Not Nearly as Important?

A recent Cover Girl Commercial starring Ellen Degeneres has her stating “Inner beauty is important, but not nearly as important as outer beauty.” Some have reasoned that she is only joking. Others angrily protest any further use of the cosmetic. Whether or not the phrase is intended as mere humor does not negate its potential damage. The Word of God is clear when comparing the two….
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry [or Cover Girl make-up] or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. -1 Peter 3:3,4
Let’s not be fooled by society’s definitions. True beauty is internal, not external…the inner self, unfading and of great worth in God’s sight. No cosmetic can touch what can only come from within. I think I’ll trust the Creator of the Universe over Ellen on what really matters.
